Everybody Starts Somewhere

I am a firm beleiver that every single person in this country has the ability to accomplish their dreams. Of course I know only a small majority do, but that is where the difference lies. Some  expect to be handed everything on a silver platter while others realize that they have to create their own opportunites. Success is personal and it is here for the taking. The challenge is you start on the bottom and work your way up. As long as you can see the light at the end of the tunnel you know your sacrifice and hard work will utlimatley pay off. Like it’s said – no pain, no gain.

I am in a spot in my life where I can say that I honestly have a brand new beginning. I am soon to be divorced, have two daughters, and have been shacked up at my Dads house for the past few months. It’s been a whirl wind of emotions to say the least, but I know that it is for the better and there will be a light at the end of this tunnel.

My ongoing sacrifices include moving from a comfortable home and now living at my Dads and sharing a bedroom with my two daughters. My plan for my living situation is to buy a trailer and put it on my Dads extra lot. I plan to live in the trailer for one or two years so I can save money and finish school. I have around $12,000 to spend. I could go and buy a house but in my current situation I would rather play it safe and smart. I want to be financially stable for my girls and don’t want to rush into a wrong decision.

Goal: Find something clean and liveable for $12,000 Time frame: 1 month

I currently work two jobs. I do bookkeeping for a department store and am an insurance agent. My income from both jobs combined is $2800 a month or $34,000 a year. It is very stressful and time consuming keeping both jobs, but for the time being I need them to beef up my savings. The only debt I currently have is a $10,000 loan I took out to buy the trailer. The payments on this are $222 a month, and hopefully when tax season rolls around and I efile, I won’t be surprised at the amount I might owe, and will be prepared to pay the taxes on my purchase.

Goal: Create income streams from selling items on Craigslist and my niche sites to replace one of my current jobs and maintain my current income. Time frame: 1 year

My daughters are ages two and three. Nobody ever thinks about divorce when they get married. The reality is 50% of us married folk will eventually become divorced.  My number one goal is to be a good mom. If all else fails I can find success in being a good parent.

Goal: Be a good parent and set a good example. Time frame: infinite

I am a business minded person. I have many ideas for creating my own businesses and becoming a super successful single momma. The past few months have shaken my world pretty hard and I am ready to get back on board with all of my plans. So stay tuned – in the next few posts I will detail more of my business goals, saving plans, and budgets.

Until next time….

    Hi Alexa,

I just found your blog recently and am looking forward to reading through the archives. My parents have each gone through multiple divorces, but ultimately I think they were for the best and they seem happier now.

Good on you for trying an alternative living situation to keep costs lower. Your goals are admirable, and I wish you the best in achieving them all.
