October Online Income Report

Online Income Report. How much I made in October from blogging, freelance writing, and virtual assistant work.

Can you believe that it’s November and our year is almost over? Doesn’t it seem like just two months ago we were setting New Year’s Resolutions? Now Christmas is right around the corner.

Craziness.

October Online Income

October wasn’t as good as I’d hoped, but that’s okay. A couple of deals fell through and I declined a couple of new writing jobs due to a little freelance writing burnout. It happens.

In fact, I’ve focused more on my own stuff last month than I have in over a year, which was one of my goals for the month! And you know what? It was fun. It reignited my blogging spark 🙂 So of course I had to set myself some blogging goals this month.

In October I made ….. $2,309.45

Freelance Writing and Virtual Assistant Work: $1,388

Blogging: $921.45

Both of these numbers are down. For the freelance work I just stopped taking on any new clients or one time jobs. I’m on the fast track to writing burnout and have decided to slow down for a little awhile.

Blogging was down also, but that’s no biggie. It always fluctuates and I’m still pretty happy with that number. I’m actually hoping to see this number go up in the next few months. (I did some behind the scenes blogging work this month and was able to increase my traffic by more than fifty percent! I’m going to work hard to keep that trend up.)

Goals for November

I did okay with my October goals. I read at least one chapter of Proverbs each day (now I’m working on Genesis) and I worked more on my own stuff. (Plus I stopped procrastinating and started doing work the minute it hit my inbox.)

However, I obviously failed at earning the $3k and since I splurged on the Disney on Ice tickets I didn’t sock away that $500. In fact, I didn’t save anything this month.

But it’s a new month. I’m not going to beat myself up on my shortcomings.

Here are my goals for the month:

  • Read a Chapter of Genesis Per Day
  • Work on blog and writing organization (put systems in place, editorial calendar, etc.)
  • Save at Least $500

That’s all folks.

How about you? Good October?

I still think you did good! Our October was great, we finally got married and took a much needed honeymoon. We just got back and feeling refresh and focusing on saving big!

Congrats on getting married! I’m happy for you. It’s nice to have that break and be able to refocus. Best of luck to you!

I think you did really well. The behind the scenes blogging work is an investment !

I’m actually happy with the $2,400. My problem is that when I don’t meet one of those income or savings goal I feel like I’m letting people down. It’s all in my head!

i think almost 1,000 on your blog is awesome! it’s really gone up since i first came here. It is in your head about disappointing people. 🙂

Thank you. I’m trying to work on not worrying about disappointing people. I think if I can get over that that I could potentially turn this blog into a money maker.

Yes, I’m liking the blog income growth. I’m going to keep working on that so I can *hopefully* not have to take any more freelance jobs besides the ones I already have.

I am so impressed with what you’ve been able to do – growing your freelance writing business as well as your own blog! Plus, I love your goals to read a Chapter of Genesis each day. it’s so foundation and many times I’m guilty of skipping over it 🙂

Thank you 🙂 I considered skipping Genesis too. But now that I’m a good way through it I’m really enjoying the stories.

It was a pretty OK month for me, got back to some Elance jobs and got some money and raving reviews. I hope November will allow me to earn even more, so that I can finish the year with a ‘bang’

Yay for the raving reviews!! I’d love to finish the year off with a bang.

I think you’ve done okay! Remember to make some more time for you too – don’t put so much pressure on yourself 🙂

I still think you did great, too! It also looks like you had a rejuvenating month, with lots of fun times with your girls. Not a bad month at all, I’d say 🙂

Thank you! Yeah it was a pretty fun month. Disney on Ice was amazing but we technically did that in November 🙂

What websites do you use for freelance jobs that are legit? I am trying to get started in that to supplement my income. I really want to be financially independent!

I just directly email the companies that I want to work for. You can get better jobs just directly asking a website owner than you’ll find on any content mill or job board.

How many hours a week do you work? If you don’t mind me asking

    • Alexa says

I don’t mind at all! I generally work around 20 hours a week. However, I just got a new job so this will be bumping up to 30-40 hours per week starting next week.
