October 2015 Income Report

Every month I share the amount of money I've earned from freelance writing, virtual assistant work, and blogging. Here's how much I made in August 2015.Happy belated Halloween!

It’s absolutely mind blowing to think we’re now in November. But, here we are. I’m kind of glad too. It seems like the last few months of the year are the ones where I draw most of my memories from.

It makes me look forward to making some new memories with my kids.

Extra Income Challenge

I apparently decided to do the extra income challenge at a time that’s a little difficult for me. My brother has needed a lot of help with my niece as he recently became a full time single Dad. Until he finds a babysitter I’ve been that help.

While I do love having her she’s eighteen months and has been making work extremely hard. It’s like I have a little Tasmanian devil running through my house all day long. Pretty much doing anything with her is hard.

(To all you Mom’s with little ones I promise, it gets much easier when your kids get a little older. My kids are now 5 and 6. After a week straight of a toddler I now realize how easy I have it with a five and six year old at home.)

However, I have made an effort to do at least something toward the challenge every weekday. I have not hit the $200 mark each day. (I actually only made it to that amount one time so far.) Other days I’ve only managed to make it to $25.

I’m not stopping though. The past few days I’ve been using my evenings very well. I’m going to start carving out a couple hours each evening to work toward my $200/day goal.

(I’ll try and do an update next week with different things I have done. Right now I’m using a word doc to record my actions each day but am working on a printable as I’d rather write it out.)

October Income Report

My October income is down from the past few months but I am still very happy with it. After quitting my last freelance job I was worried that I’d see my income drop quite a bit, but it didn’t!

I’m hoping with the extra income challenge I can keep my income at around $5,000 per month while shoveling as much as possible into savings.

As a reminder this is the amount of money that I actually received in October.

October Online Income – $5,368.43

To break it down even further it came from:

  • Freelance (Writing, VA Work) $1,020
  • Blogging $4,348.43

The blogging income came from:

  • Ad Networks – $2,545.69
  • Affiliate Income – $1,150.74
  • Sponsored Posts – $652

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween and have a great week!

What a great month! I have 2 of them that age right now and they are hard to manage sometimes, but it’s a fun age.

It’s fun but I forgot how exhausting it is. I don’t know how you get anything done. I’m very impressed 🙂

I haven’t started to challenge myself to make that amount but am setting a goal to bring in $50 per day. This is not even my highest expectation because this is how I will start to test out the extra income challenge (inspired by you). Although it might seem to be very challenge, and yet I am also setting my goal of writing more blog posts. Hope everything goes well to you.

Halloween was good although it rained so hard and all. I went to the mall that day, and the mall was like a zoo! I was surprised that many people brought their kids and went to trick-or-treat inside the mall.

    Stay well!

Trick or treating inside a mall doesn’t sound like such a bad idea 🙂 It was cold here. I hated for my kids to be out so long.

Yes. Sometimes I find the busier I am the more I get done though. It forces you to use your time well 🙂

This is what happens to me. The busier I am the more things get done. I don’t know what motivates me on this, but I think the overwhelmingness helps to trigger my productivity.

Awesome! I have a four year old and a two year old, so I’m glad to hear it gets easier, but honestly, I’m going crazy. 🙂 I need to start the extra income challenge and need to stop make excuses why I can’t (holidays, messy house, NaNo, etc.)

It gets SO much easier. I didn’t realize it until many 11 hour days with an eighteen month old these past couple of weeks. I can now appreciate how easy I have it with a 5 and 6 year old. Toddlers are exhausting! Fun but exhausting.

    Wonderful numbers once again 🙂

October was actually pretty good for my small business as well, let’s hope November is gonna be at least as good for us all.

I’m amazed you managed to get anything done with an 18 month old in the house! I remember those days… Admittedly, they’re a little hazy, and mostly I remember how exhausted I was, but I do remember how cute my daughter was at that age. And… she was… Into. Absolutely. Everything!

How did I miss the Extra Income Challenge?! Off to check it out now.

    Congrats on the blogging income!

Congrats on the income last month Alexa! Sounds like you have your hands full for sure. I realize that my 5-year-old is so independent now, I’m doing less and less for him because he wants to do it all on his own and plays well independently.

Hey Alexa, what a great month you have had! You mentioning your busy niece reminds me of what I have to look forward to. My son is 4 months and I have a 5-year-old. Clearly things are going to get interesting around here very soon, lol. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Alexa, congrats on a great October! Even though it’s down number wise, you’ve certainly had your hands full and no doubt a great help to your brother. As a stay-at-home Dad of a 3 and 1 year old, I’m in awe of what you are able to accomplish. 🙂

I’ve been lurking for several months and watched your journey. First congratulations on building your online income! I too am a single mom. I feel your pain working at home with your niece, I homeschool while working. I feel like I am losing my mind sometimes.
