In honor of Labor Day this coming Monday I get an extra day off! I love holiday weekends.
Instead of spending the day working or just sitting around the house I thought it would be fun for the girls and I to have a Labor Day party and invite a couple of family members over.
I have been thinking of ways that I can have an inexpensive, kid friendly, and most of all fun Labor Day party. Here’s what I’m thinking.
Theme
Making a theme for the party makes it so much more fun for my two little ones. They definitely get into putting up decorations as well as making their own.
One possibility could be a no white theme, since you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day.
Food and Drink
I have been brushing up on my cooking skills lately so making a fun menu is a must.
I found some Labor Day recipes on All Recipes that I want to try. These include Fruit Salsa, Seven Layer Dip and Peach Cobbler. I already have peaches, some fruit, tortilla chips, and homemade salsa on hand. I shouldn’t have to spend much money at all to pick up the rest of the ingredients.
Since this will be a kid friendly party I thought Cherry Limeade and Milkshakes would be a good option. Although, I may try to whip up some concoction with ingredients I already have.
Finishing Touches
To set the mood I want to spread out a few neat decorations. I really like these paper lanterns. I’ve been trying to think of a way that the girls and
I could make these ourselves and string them along the house. I have also checked a couple of other websites out for party decoration ideas. I like the unique variety of party decorations that Homewetbar offers.
I’ll also set bowls of cookies or candy around the house along with a tray of veggies fresh from the garden (and totally free!)
And of course to set the atmosphere a play list dedicated to Labor Day!
A fun party is in the making! What are you doing for Labor Day?
