Low on cash? there are still options that allow you to become an entrepreneur. Here are 6 home business ideas that cost less than $100 to start.

Starting your own business can be exciting, but it also will come with a ton of responsibility. Being in charge of when you work and how much you work are just a few of the many benefits of starting your own business.

Then, you have to consider startup costs. According to Business News Daily, most small businesses can be started for less than $3,000. Of course, start-up costs depend on the nature of your business, along with any tools, materials, certifications and licenses. Starting a small business doesn’t have to cost you a fortune.

If you don’t have thousands of dollars, there are still other great options that allow you to become a profitable entrepreneur. Here are 6 home business ideas that cost less than $100 to start.

Pet Sitter

If you love pets, you can start your own pet sitting or dog walking business for less than $100. You could start advertising to your friends, family, and neighbors and also create a profile on Rover.com.

Some people might just need you to pop in and let their dog out a couple of times a day when they’re out of town. Others may need a regular sitter to care for their pet overnight.

Find a rate that works for you to start off and you could gradually increase your wage as you gain a reputation.

Sitters make the most money when pet owners ask them to watch over their pets for a couple of weeks. This can happen often if a pet owner travels frequently for work.

You may need a few supplies to get started but most clients may want to bring their own pet supplies.

Tutoring

Tutoring can be a great way to earn money by helping other students. Parents most likely would want a tutor who has some sort of background in education or is an expert in a particular field.

If you don’t have prior teaching experience, consider tutoring in a subject that you majored in during college.

It wouldn’t hurt to create a website to highlight your background and describe what your strengths are when it comes to educating students.

This is another business that wouldn’t take much money at all to start but can be very helpful and beneficial to the students in your community.

Freelance Writing

Becoming a freelance writer is a profitable business idea that you can start with $100 or less. Plus, you can work from the comfort of your own home.

You just need some writing samples and possibly a portfolio site to get started. Some websites make the design aspect simple so you may not even have to be to design savvy to get your website up and running. Pick a niche that you enjoy and go for it.

You may want to network and build connections in different freelance groups or with other writers. Figure out who you’d like to write for them send pitches and follow ups to land clients.

You can raise your rates over time as you get more experience and improve your writing.

Selling on Amazon or Ebay

Another business idea route you can do is sell on Amazon or Ebay. You can either buy products on sale and resell them or just use the platforms to sell items you already have in your home.

It may surprise you that someone may pay a good amount of money for something that you were going to throw away anyway. It just has to be the right time of year and at the right price.

You’ll need to pay for shipping materials and may even incur some shipping fees. If your business grows so much that you don’t really want to be in charge of shipping, packing, and storing your items Fulfillment by Amazon is a service that will do all of that for you.

Virtual Assistant

Virtual assistants are a critical part of operations for any business owners. Business owners are always looking for good help to make life easier for them.

You can offer a variety of services including taking calls, answering emails, and handling social media.

Virtual assistants can earn anywhere from $10 – $30+ per hour.

Etsy Shop

Put your creative abilities to the test and launch an Etsy business. Etsy is a well-known marketplace for all things homemade. You can use this site to create handmade items or digital products to sell.

Etsy has had items like jewelry, clothing, tools, bags for sale and that could be a good place to begin. You do have a $0.20 listing fee listing can be active for four months or until they sell. There are payment processing fees with each item you sell including a 5% transaction fee 3% plus $0.25 for processing.

Summary

You don’t have to come up with tons of money in order to start a business. Having an online business will usually require fewer start up costs and more flexibility. You should also consider starting a business that will be cheap to market in the begining stages if you’re looking to keep costs down.

The ideas mentioned above are all great, but this list just scratches the surface. Share your favorite business ideas that have low start-up costs in the comments below!
