The companies listed in this post hire in the U.S. and North America. If you frequent any job boards that share leads on remote work in your area, I would start with that.

Thanks for this list — I might need to come back here if my husband ever ends up without benefits again. I love the flexibility of working from home, but the lack of benefits (and the TAXES, ugh) are the worst. I think the hardest part is no paid time off, ever. Wondering if Amazon has something like this?

I hear ya. I love working from home as well but the taxes part sucks and I’m thankful that my husband still have a traditional job with good health insurance benefits, or else, we’d be paying a ton. I know Amazon does hire remote workers and provides benefits if you work more than 20 hours per week.

Very informative home based job opportunity information. I will share this with my friends. Who actually can apply for this job? Is there any geo-graphical area involved? Thank you.

Most jobs are open to U.S. residents but may have location requirements as some states are different. Be sure to check out their job listing to confirm if there is a location requirement in order to work remotely for the company.

Why does it suck for taxes if you work from home

You have to pay double the social security and medicare that you would normally pay if working for an employer. An employer usually pays half of that for you and if you’re your own boss you have to pay all of it!
