5 Rock-Solid Careers You Can Build From Home

“I want to work from home but don’t know what to do. Can you help?” This is by far the most common question I’m asked.

And I get it. I completely do.

When I first started finding remote work I went through idea after idea before finally finding one that stuck. It all came down to trial and error.

As much as I wish I could tell you exactly what job will work best for you, I can’t. I don’t know what you’re good at or what peaks your interest the most.

What I can do though, is show you five of my favorite work from home jobs. I love these careers because every single one of them can be turned into a full-time income with completely flexible hours. (Because when you’re the boss, you choose the hours!)

Here are five rock-solid careers that can be done from home.

Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping speaks to my heart because it was my first real job. If you love numbers and pay special attention to detail this can be a great gig for you.

In fact, as a virtual bookkeeper you can earn up to $80/hr!

Sure, you probably won’t be making $80 per hour right out of the gate but it’s safe to say this career has huge growth potential.

Bookkeeping is a good fit for you if:

• You are good with numbers
• Have excellent organizational skills
• Are good with deadlines
• Are willing to do some legwork to find your own clients

Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is how I broke into the work from home world and is something I only recently quit doing. If you’re a decent writer and are willing to find your own clients you can build up a freelance writing business very quickly!

Freelance writing may be a good fit for you if:

• You are a decent writer
• You have expertise in a specific area
• Are good with deadlines
• Are willing to do some legwork to find your own clients

Virtual Assisting

This is my favorite. While I got my start working from home as a freelance writer I quickly turned into an assistant for a few top bloggers and LOVED it.

Virtual assistants can do a myriad of things. So, in a sense, this can be a jack-of-all-trades career depending on what industry you go into.

To give you an idea, as a virtual assistant for bloggers I scheduled blog posts, posted on social media, created graphics, managed email, interacted with advertisers and more. What I loved most about this job was that there was always something different to do so I never got bored.

Being a virtual assistant is a good fit for you if:

• You are highly organized
• You’re able to jump from task to task
• You don’t mind doing something different everyday
• Are willing to do some legwork to find your own clients

Pinterest Management

If you’re looking to build a career that doesn’t feel like work then this is a solid option!

In the last couple of years Pinterest has grown to be one of the biggest social media platforms and businesses are starting to take notice.

• Have a business sense
• Are good with analytics
• Are willing to do so legwork to find your own clients
