I am so glad the weekend is here. Today Kailyn and I get to have our one on one time! It’s the girls weekend to spend with their dad, but he thought the one on one time with each kid was a good idea so Kailyn and I are having our girls day today! This was one of my main goals for the month so I am very happy to be able to cross it off my list.

My favorite post from this week came from Money Saving Mom, Be Present In Your Children’s Lives, It’s One of the Best Presents You Can Give Them. This post sums up how I have been feeling lately. Life is short, don’t miss or undervalue the truly important things.

Freelance Jobs
I ended up getting two new freelance jobs this week and it looks like they will both be ongoing! Neither of them came from job boards. I had one person contact me directly through this blog and the other job I got from emailing a blog owner to see if they needed additional writers.
I also had a business owner who I emailed respond saying they were interested and would get back to me next week. Fingers crossed!
I still need to get several more jobs before I’ll be able to reach my $500/week freelance writing goal. I applied to quite a few jobs this week.

I hope your girls day was excellent! Congratulations on the new gigs as well. I think $500 a week is a fantastic goal.
When you are applying for jobs doing freelance writing, how do you decide which opportunities are scams? I’m a bit paranoid, I guess, but I always assume the worst when I search for jobs online.
Alexa says
I look at job boards, like ProBlogger, where you have to pay to post a job. If they paid to post it’s less likely to be a scam. In Craigslist ads I usually like to see a website so I can check them out, but this isn’t always the case. I just send an email out if I am interested in a job. If they reply wanting free writing samples I never do it because it’s most likely a scam.
Alexandra @ Real Simple Finances says
I also heard that about the free writing samples. Thanks for all your advice on this topic! 🙂
Jennifer @ Budgeting in Baby says
