Nearly 1.28 billion people log onto Facebook daily making it one of the most popular social media sites currently and to date. Most people I know have a Facebook profile and while sometimes, I’ll admit I take breaks from Facebook because it can be a little too distracting, you can actually use Facebook’s popularity to earn more money from home.
If you spend quite a bit of time browsing on Facebook each day anyway, you might want to consider one of these 4 options to earn some extra money in during your spare time.
1. Sell on the Marketplace
Facebook Marketplace is a cool feature that’s been rolled out to help local sellers sell items more effectively on Facebook. With the marketplace feature, you can shop online for a variety of items and locate sellers in your area that have listed them for sale, or you can list your own items to sell and communicate with potentials buyers.
It’s basically like Craigslist but for Facebook. With the Facebook Marketplace, you can list clothes, shoes, old phones, electronics, furniture, toys, and more for sale.
It’s also super easy to get started. You need to have a Facebook account of course. Then, you just need to take clear pictures of the item(s) you wish to list for sale. Then, include a brief description of each item and a listing price. You’ll get to see how many views your listing gets respond to user’s messages and questions about the item.
Facebook will keep your item listed for a few weeks before taking it down but you can always relist it if it doesn’t sell and make some adjustments.
2. Join Local Buy, Sell, and Trade Groups
Another popular way to earn money on Facebook is to join local buy, sell, and trade Facebook groups. Large or small, most towns have a local group and you’ll just need to request to join and follow all the rules.
In most groups, you can post information about what you’re selling right to the group’s feed and communicate with people who are interested.
Using these local groups can also be a great way to get free advertising for your yard sales or reach a wider target market so you can sell your items quickly.
When selling items on Facebook locally, be sure to take proper safety precautions and meet up with buyers in a public place and exchange cash only or a safe PayPal transaction. Also, don’t feel the need to share your personal email address and home address if it’s not necessary.
3. Help Set Up Facebook Business Pages
If you prefer not to sell items, you can sell your services on Facebook instead and offer to set up professional business pages. Facebook is a HUGE marketing tool and all businesses should consider setting up a Facebook fan page and growing a following.
The problem is that some business owners put off setting up a Facebook page because they don’t think it’s important or they don’t know how. By being a regular on Facebook, you can easily help local and online businesses set up their business page for a fee.
If you know how to create graphics, you can even offer to create custom Facebook covers to match each business’ branding for their business page. When you use Canva which is a free site, you can create custom and high-quality Facebook banners easily. Some people even offer to do this as an a la carte service on Fiverr.
4. Manage Facebook Business Pages
While setting up Facebook business pages is a great way to earn extra money, you can also generate a consistent income by offering an ongoing virtual assistant service to manage Facebook pages for different businesses or individuals.
Small businesses, entrepreneurs, and even bloggers may be willing to outsource Facebook management if they don’t want to dedicate the time or energy toward doing it.
There are many free resources online you can use to boost your skills and learn more about social media management so you can offer a valuable service.
You’ll want to consider scheduling posts, coming up with campaign ideas, engaging with followers, sharing news and updates, and posting about events on Facebook. Facebook already has a cool built-in scheduling tool for business pages so you don’t have to schedule posts on a 3rd party website.
to enhance your service, you can also track engagement and learn how to create and manage Facebook ads to provide even more value to your clients. Offering a Facebook management service for businesses and professionals can be a fun and flexible way to earn extra money on your favorite social media platform.
Facebook is developing into quite the dynamic platform these days. Instead of spending hours scrolling through your feed and liking pictures, you can use some of your spare time to earn money on Facebook either by selling items you no longer want or need, or offering your services and expertise when it comes to managing Facebook pages.
Do you use Facebook? Have you ever thought about doing any of these things to earn money on Facebook?

These are great ideas! Facebook is the one social media platform that I both use regularly and know fairly well, but I hadn’t thought of using it to generate income beyond my own pages. I really like the idea of helping businesses manage their online presence there. Thanks for sharing!

Great tips! We’ve used a local Facebook mom’s group to sell a number of items that we didn’t want anymore. We’ve actually been working on clearing out some room in the garage so I’m going to try out the Marketplace to unload some more stuff. Never used it before so hopefully we ave good luck with it.
