Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to give you a little sneak peek into my life, as well as reveal my spending for the week, and my goals for the week.
If it makes me do better with my spending and goals I might make it a regular Friday thing. 😉
Spending
I’ve been concentrating on partaking in super frugal weekend activities and have been doing pretty darn awesome.
On Saturday we planned a fun day at the flea market. The girls both went through their piggy banks and brought $7/piece with them to spend. They had a ton of fun comparing prices, counting out their money, and paying for their own things.
It took Kailyn an hour to make her first purchase!
Ava ended up spending her whole $7 and getting a package of ponytail holders ($1), a new Hello Kitty Cup ($2), and a play doctor set ($4). Kailyn ended up spending $6 getting a new ball ($2) and a play doctor set ($4). She put her remaining dollar back in her piggy bank.
After the flea market we went to a nearby park and spent a couple hours playing on the playground and watching the ducks. We also brought a cooler full of food with us and had a picnic.
On Sunday we kept it low key. We got the pool out of storage and the girls swam. And Jamie (boyfriend) let them take turns driving his lawnmower. (Don’t worry, he followed along side them.)
This coming weekend the girls will be at their dads so I’m sure it’ll be pretty boring around here. Maybe some yard sale hopping or something of the sort!
Here’s how my spending for the week was (Friday – Thursday):
Groceries: $156.38 (Yikes!!)
Gas: $25.00
Flea Market: $10 (I bought handmade wax cubes for my wax warmer)
Total Spending: $191.38
I also had $16.42 in Amazon Credits which I used to order some basic groceries and $21.75 in Thred Up credits. I was in need of a new bathing suit so I used those too.
If you haven’t signed up for an account with Thred Up yet you can sign up under this link and we’ll both get $10 to spend. And you can use your credit toward the cost of shipping so you can easily score a free shirt shipped straight to your door by signing up!
Tracking Investment Savings
I also started tracking investment property savings. You can see the progress under the “Savings Tracker” tab.
I am going to tell you about my whole strategy, goals, etc. (and hopefully pictures) next week. I started to write it about today but this post was turning into a book 😉
Goals for the Week
- Finish organizing yard sale items, including going back through the house and reassessing my stuff
- Write a Guest Post for Another Blog
- Attend one of my nephew’s baseball games
- No eating out
KinderMint Giveaway
Kindermint is an on-line consignment store for kids’ clothes. They’ve got big brand names for seriously great, low prices. Not only that; you can send your kids’ clothes in to sell, too.
It eliminates the hassle of dragging your kids to the store with a box full of clothes in one arm and the other trying to wrangle the little ones up. You know when you buy from them that the clothes you’re getting look like they’ve never been worn. In fact, some of them haven’t been, and they’ve got the tags on them to prove it.
To celebrate Femme Frugality’s 3 years of blogging, they’re giving away a $30 gift certificate to one lucky winner! Use the Rafflecopter below to enter:
*Open to US residents only. Fulfillment of prize is the responsibility of the sponsor and does not lie with any participating bloggers.*
Good luck!!
Have an awesome weekend!

I went through your link to order a Lacoste Polo Rugby for a total of $7. 48; the shirt retails for around $75. This included my $10 discount and shipping/handling. I had not heard of Thred Up before; they have some really cute clothes!

Thank you for going through my link! 😉 When I had the insurance job I bought the majority of my dress clothes through Thred Up. There’s no way I’d every be able to afford to buy a wardrobe full of Ann Taylor Loft if was brand new but with pants around $10 it’s too hard to pass up. Plus all of the clothes look brand new, I’ve even bought some with tags on them. I love ThredUp!!

Your little girls are growing up so fast.
Alexa says
I know. It’s kind of sad how fast they grow!
AverageJoe says
Isn’t it sad how much inflation there’s been with groceries lately? I keep reminding myself that it’s much better there than at a restaurant, though….
Alexa says
Yeah I know. I’ve got to remind myself that even though my grocery spending has increased my overall food spending has decreased since I quit eating out.

Yesterday I took a ton of clothes to Clothes Mentor (and they were in good condition, super cute and on trend, if I do say so myself) but they didn’t take any. I’ll give ThredUp a try – signed up through your link. How have you found their acceptance rate for kids clothes?
Alexa says
I actually haven’t turned any clothes in there – I just buy them 😉 I don’t buy my kids name brand clothes (unless they come from a yard sale or are gifts) so I doubt they’d take mine. Most of my kids’ clothes come from K-mart. Thanks for using my link!

Alexa, I’m so bummed I literally just signed up with ThredUp last week! I would have loved to use your link 🙁 On the other hand, thank you so much for reminding about ThredUp! I had NO idea how cheap all these really great clothes are – $11 for a VS bathing suit?! That’s amazing!!
Alexa says
No problem! Definitely check them out, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the prices. And everything I have received has been in excellent condition.
